I've been listening to Elephant myself. Great album. I've also been
playing these CDs:

DEVO - Recombo DNA
Les Paul - The Complete Decca Trios Plus (1936-47)
Frank Zappa - Lather

Lets have a quick check of what we have been listening to lately.
*TMBG discography
*DUTY NOW and select DEVO tracks
*A select subset of Stiiv, Dr. Zontar, EMERSON STIIV AND PEE, and TWO
WATTS OF POWER, of course
*A whole bunch of tracks by unsigned bands I downloaded over the last
five years from MP3.COM, Soundclick, and more recently, MIXPOSURE
*Most of Zappa's output
*Large playlist of too many prog-rock songs to list
*Lots of stuff I did myself
*An overwhelming assortment of soundtrack scores from TV and movies
*Select tracks by Prokofiev, Tchaikovsky, Copland (Aaron AND Stewart),
whatever classical crap grabs my ear
*Hundreds of novelty songs
*Hundreds of Firesign Theater, Louis C K, and other comedy albums
*Hundreds of TV commercials, cartoon theme songs, and miscellaneous
sound effects
*And much more!

...all of which is in a number of huge Winamp playlists set to
"shuffle". I call it "RADIO FPEE" and nobody can listen to it but me.

Most of the time I listen to the house iPod, it's shuffling through
everything my husband and I put on there.

Been listening to a lot of Devo, Prefab Sprout, a little early Genesis,
and a few other things I can't remember right now.

I'm a'loadin' up the iTunes. What I'm listening to & getting psyched
about mostly is

My own stuff
Eliza Gilkyson's new one
Capt. Beefheart - Doc At The Radar Station
Air - Talkie Walkie
Hardcore Vol 1
Bjork - Medulla
Cream - Disraeli Gears
the new Kathleen Edwards rocks,
and I have a disc of Hank Williams, Sr. unreleased songwriting demos
that is pretty damn amazing.

Cheers!

Ok, I'll chime in but keep it to 3:

Roky Erikson - Greatest Hits
The new vinyl/iTunes-only Beck EP that sounds like 8 bit computer music.
A C Newman - Slow Wonder

The new Lemon Jelly is good, but I think I like Lost Horizons better.

thats hilarious, I immediately went out and got the vinyl boxset after
buying the CD too, and the DVD is still on order from amazon. This is
the first by them that I have liked enough to buy although I am
intimately familar with the earlier ones, they just were not doing it
for me as much.

Devo boots, Freddy Cannon and Dave Edmunds (doing 2 gigs backing up
Freddy in Germany next week and Dave's on the bill---can't wait!),
Desmond Dekker (a great reggae and ska singer often credited with
inventing ska and reggae but was only known in America for
"Israelites"), Beatles (of course), anything with Carol Kaye playing
bass (my new best internet friend).

Which reminds me: anyone watch the Concert for George on PBS?
Highlights for me were Jeff Lynne singing "The Inner Light" backed by
Ravi Shankar's troupe (with Ravi's lovely daughter on sitar), the
remaining Monty Pythons (plus Tom Hanks & others) doing the Lumberjack
Song (I know, I know, but it felt good knowing that the guys & Carol
are still alive & well), & strangely, watching former coke monkey Jim
Capaldi play the hell outta every percussion instrument short of a
drum kit. The whole affair could have been mawkish & maudlin, but
turned out to be gently moving & beautifully musical, with a sly, easy
sense of humor. Kinda like George.

I go through phases of loving and hating Jeff Lynne. I really like The
Move, early ELO, and The Traveling Wilburys but I still haven't
forgiven him for ELO's "Discovery"...

Carol Cleaveland!!! I had *SUCH* an adolescent crush on her (back in
the day). I haven't seen her since "The Meaning of Life".

Sounds cool. Knowing PBS, they'll repeat the show during every pledge
drive for the next couple of years. I'll be sure to catch it.
