How 'bout it folks?

What are the recent plays on your iTunes, or whatevah... Excluding my
own recordings, going back ten listens, I've had this going on --

1. Jandek -- The Living End (Whole CD beginning to end. It's a new
purchase & I've heard it 3 times through now.)
2. Rolling Stones -- Out of Our Heads (most of it)
3. Captain Beefheart -- Neon Meate Dream of a Octafish offa Trout Mask
4. my mix of Yes & Jandek
5. New Lost City Ramblers -- Black Bottom Stout
6. Boards of Canada -- Music Has the Right To Children
7. Bjork -- The Pleasure is All Mine & Mouth's Cradle offa Medulla
8. Barbara Morgenstern -- Tag Und Nacht offa Fjorden
9. Coupla tracks offa Dangerhouse Vol. 1 -- X & Howard Werth to be
exact
10. ZZTop -- Avalon Highway offa Tejas

It's interesting to note that music is becoming a private experience
for me. It used to be more communal, but really, it's these damned
headphones that are messing things up. Maybe if we talk about what
we're listening to, we can get the communal feeling of music back.

Interesting list, I've been more into Scandinavian rock and (still) punk,
in no particular order:

The Briefs: Steal Your Heart (LP, all of it)
The Dirtbombs: Brand New Game (Single)
The Locomotions: Teacher (EP)
New Bomb Turks: The Night Before The Day The Earth Stood Still (CD)
Lost Sounds: Outtakes & Demos Vol. 1 (CD)
The Hellacopters: I'm In The Band (Single)
Interpol: C'mere (Single)
The Plastiques: Shoplifting (Single)
The Sewergrooves: Down On You (Single)
The Rakes: Retreat (Maxi CD)

I'll add two others:

Epoxies: Stop The Future (CD, IMHO not as good as their previous one,
but still good enough for my taste)
Turbonegro: Party Animals (CD)

as I listed a lot of Singles ;-)

Mixed feelings, very mixed feelings about that. Currently, I'm working
in one big room with ~25 people - if I had no headphones, I would go
hopping mad (well, I do occasionally anyway, but that's another story).

But I miss the long nights with friends where we used to listen to all
the stuff we found. Did not matter if it was new or old,

CU,
Uli

In no particular order:

Jeff Beck - You Had it Coming (Beck discovers digital cut & paste - &
still kicks major guitar ass! Check out "Rollin' & Tumblin", with fab
vocals by Imogen Heap.)

Franz Ferdinand - Do You Want (The hook is irresistable.)

The Dictators - Live (The Great Ones are still the great ones. Amen.)

Sol Hoopi - Various (Hawaiian guitar genius of the 30's - Amazon
actually gives away 3 of his tracks for free!)

Jethro Tull - Passion Play (a very underrated album - almost as good
as Thick as a Brick)

Bad Brains - The ROIR Sessions (bought the cassette from ROIR's NYC
office the day it came out - a life-changing white-hot blast of rasta
speedpunk)

DEVO - Duty Now for the Future

The GC5 - White Flag (old style 2-git-bass-drums oi-type yelling -
really great, but none of their other tracks measure up to this one)

The Beatles - Revolver & Rubber Soul (becoming is almost always better
than being)

Alison Krauss - I'll Fly Away (makes me all misty - must be genetic,
buried in my american-irish hillbilly soul)

Hah...that's how I got my Sirius set. When Stern first announced he was
going to move to Sirius, I called my dad and told him to buy stock. I
didn't have the money to invest, and he enjoys little investments
online. Since then it's gone up 60%.

So my bonus was the receiver and a year's subscription. Next year I'll
gladly pay to renew it myself.

By the way, this is the same dad who flew to Chicago to see DEVO with me
at the Riviera a couple years ago. He saw them in 1989 without me. I'm
over that now. :-)

Ya, I missed that period where it doubled. That would have been
sweet. But I have faith that it's going to do nothing but go higher.

I love it. I pretty much keep it on Howard 100 and 101, but now and
then I venture out and listen to other stations and it's killer.

When I bought my new car, it came with Srius. Within an hour of having it,
I knew I would never be without satellite radio. And I bought stock too,
hasn't done much for me yet.

Yeah, but Sirius is a long-term stock. You're not going to see it
grow by leaps and bounds immediately. So be patient.
