We've already made humans more monkeylike... why not do the opposite?

"Beware the beast man, for he is the Devil's pawn. Alone among God's
primates, he kills for sport or lust or greed. Yea, he will murder his
brother to possess his brother's land. Let him not breed in great
numbers, for he will make a desert of his home and yours. Shun him, for
he is the harbinger of death."

-Cornelius

"Experimental brain surgery on these creatures is one thing, and I'm
all in favor of it. But your behavior studies are another matter. To
suggest that we can learn anything about the simian nature from a study
of man is sheer nonsense. Why, man is a nuisance. He eats up his food
supply in the forest, then migrates to our green belts and ravages our
crops. The sooner he is exterminated, the better. It's a question of
simian survival."

lIke the Macau Monkey in a Isreali Zoo, she suffered brain damage
during a medical procedure, and ended up walking upright like a human.

Just gos to prove that the human race is nothing but retarded brain
dead monkeys!

Hey, if it may lead to a cure for Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease, I
say go for it. A race of inteligent monkeys would only be a bonus.

Too bad the US Government keeps bowing to the religious right when it
comes to stem cell research.

recommended reading --

"The Uplift War", part of the Uplift series by David Brin -- It's space
opera, grandiose scale, but it focusses on one world which humans have
colonized along with modified chimpanzees. No Devo fans read science
fiction but me, right?

I am reminded of "The Uplift War" by David Brin. Set in the future
when Humans have uplifted a couple of other species to sentience --
Dolphins and Chimps. There's six volumes in the series so far, and
this particular one is set on a planet with only humans and chimps (the
oceans are poisonous...) If'n you read science fiction, you probably
know this one, if'n you don't, get with the program, eh?

Who says Chimps are not already sentinent beings?

Remember that old saying...."I fling my feces, therefore I am!"

in this case, I think there's a quantifiable difference -- currently
there are no chimp engineers, doctors, etc. etc. These chimps would be
genetically enhanced to improve dexterity, language capacity, logic &
other reasoning skills, over the course of many generations... Same
with the dolphins.

It's "The Beginning Was The End" all over again, only we're not making th
emonkeys eat brains, just giving them DISEASED HUMAN CELLS to mutate their
brains against natural development.

OKM is spinning in his grave! (coooooooooool.)

Why not throw chihuahuas into the mix?

Here''s a heartwarming video you should share with
all the small children in your family. It cutely depicts
such a whimsical scenario:

I think I dated her once. Had a good time too, until the beer goggles
wore off.
Nice girl except for the low self-esteem.
