hi all...in years gone by,i`ve purchased (on video) `THE MEN WHO MAKE THE
MUSIC` and `WE`RE ALL DEVO` (shit... i just sat them next to computer
speakers..please still be o.k.) and 2 weeks ago i bought (on dvd)`LIVE IN
THE LAND OF THE RISING SUN`and 2 dvd pack `COMPLETE TRUTH ABOUT
DE-EVOLUTION`/DEVO LIVE` and i`m wondering exactly what DVDs are
available???common devo knowledge is somewhat limited here in
australia...and elsewhere on this newsgroup, someone mentions they have a
1980 live performance dvd (men who make music is dated 1978??)so,what dvds
are there??if others, will they be released in australia??(or compatable)
also,it is mentioned that they are touring...i assume that means in
america only, would be great if somehow east coast of `oz was included
eagerly sat and watched `land of rising sun`and was somewhat shocked to
see middle-aged people!! (stupidity on my behalf...everything i`d ever seen
with devo was produced in early `80s,except in early `90s i saw clip of
post-post modern man (the one with the car) and somehow in my mind, they
were still the same age,BUT they still have the same mystique, and still
rock-on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
in the interview with mark and jerry, there are 2 pug dogs between
them,my question is,are they actually alive??apart from the occassional
twitch,they don`t move much :-}
any-hoo,always eager to buy more dvds-i have all their cd`s(except
recombo dna) but all those tracks are probably already on other cd`s
regards :-}

The only one you don't have right now is the 1980 Live DVD.

Recombo DNA, still available:
http://www.rhinohandmade.com/browse/ProductLink.lasso?Number=7718

It's also semi-regularly available on Ebay. And of course, failing
that, you can download the songs off Soulseek. But it's a great
package and you really miss out on some fabulous artwork if you just
download it.

As for the Live 1980, don't bother with the CD portion. They edit off
a couple songs and shorten others. Just get the DVD and if you really
need the audio on a CD, rip it and make your own like I did.

Eh, I wasn't too big on that show. I thought the sound was way off,
and I just don't dig David Kendrick in Devo. I much prefer their
current drummer Josh Freese.

Nope, Recombo DNA is a combination of unreleased songs, demos of
released songs, and a couple live tracks previously unavailable. It's
worth it if you're a truly hardcore fan, but casual fans could
probably skip it.

I'm sure the Hendrix folks think it's disrespectful, but I think it
disrespects *them* more than anything. the guy who plays Hendrix in
the video is Randy Orange, I believe, who used to do a Hendrix
"tribute" act. He is also not well liked by Corporate Jimi, for
precisely that reason. I think he had been issued a "cease and desist"
well before appearing in the Devo video.

I have RU Experienced on tape somewhere.... I believe it was the MTV
premiere (and probably the only time it was played on MTV...) after it was
over, Martha Quinn said "Devo, spud-izing the Jimi Hendrix classic....."
Yeah, maybe the Hendrix estate doesn't like the Hendrix clone coming out of
the coffin....
Anyway... I guess I was hoping "the complete truth about de-evolution" would
have been more, er, complete.
Throw in the Duty Now performance from "Rock Concert", and the Nutra
performance from "Friday's" and you're starting to get complete......

I would tend to agree, but they would probably have to pay too much to
get the rights to put those on their DVD's, so you will just have to
content yourself with the bootleg versions floating around the net.
