DeVo's YouTube SubGenius AdVentures!

Take a look around the ol' 'tube if you wanna check out a rarely-seen
5+ minute long 1982 interview with Mark Mothersbaugh during the heart
of the NuTraMan Tour. I'm in the process of uploading it as I type
this, so unless something goes awry it'll be available for viewing any
minute now.

The interview was conducted by a totally brain-dead bimbo from the
Showtime cable channel for a feature on the Church of the SubGenius,
and was shot immediately upon the band's release from a Houston jail,
where they had been taunted and abused throughout the previous night.
Needless to say, MM was in a foul mood, but nonetheless he tried his
damnedest to avoid saying the words "f*ck" and "p*ssy" in the company
of the clueless tele-twit.

The look of disbelief on MM's face as she continues to blindly drag
him deeper and deeper into embarrassingly graphic sexual repartee is
guaranteed to provoke gales of laughter. The raw footage from the
interview was apparently reclaimed by the Church at some point and was
chopped into a number of brief snippets for use in "The SubGenius
Bootleg Video", which was a sort of demo/prototype for the Church's
epic "Arise!" feature film)

The footage was shot during a SubGenius function in Dallas, and the
focus of the chat with MM is on the New Traditionalist Man and the
life-changing power of "BOB" and "slack". After years of intention
without action, I've finally forced myself to reassemble MM's words
and post them online in honor of Devo's upcoming showcase at Austin's
SXSW 2009 music & media festival. The title I chose for the YouTube
posting is "DEVO: The Pros & Cons of Texas '82". (Iif that doesn't
turn it up, try a search using the keywords "devo", "subgenius" and
"houston").

Hopefully, this time DEVO's time in Texas will be less fraught with
trauma and misery at the hands of The Conspiracy than their 1982 visit
was!

Yes Warners have been scouring YouTube for Devo stuff. They got their
knickers in twist over my vid of the official Energy Dome manufacture
video which uses Too Much Paranoia as it's soundtrack.

My vid had been viewed by GVC himself on my instruction and he had no
issue with me using the song to drown out the noise of the vacuum pump!

I disputed their complaint and so far it's remained.

Well, yeah -- I removed it after re-editing & replacing it and posted
the new URL here before you posted the comment above, but clearly my
post vanished somewhere en route! It is running WITH SOUND now,
though, and actually it looks better now, too:

Also, I've been TRYING to upload a treat from the "PreDobbs StangFilm"
video (with the reluctant permission of the Rev. himself), but at
present the file is screwed up. For future reference, though, expect
my Youtube channel [1ncebitten2wiceshy] to soon feature his 1971 short
film adaptation of the R. Crumb story "Ducks Yas Yas", from the
historic underground comix book ZAP #0. (Look out, "Watchmen"!)

If you want to be "old Fashioned" you can BUY DVD's Directly from
STANG himself!

Just go the the "Bulldada Time Control Lab" at the Church of the
Subgenius web page.

Do it quickly beciase Stang is working on his will and I'm trying to
get on his good side.

My copies are ancient "promotional" copies which I got from Stang many
eons ago. Funny you should mention the DVDs, though -- I'm sure the
reason my first edit got silenced was because a few seconds of the
"RUXperienced" video* slipped into it -- and the DVD edition of
"PreDobbsStangfilms" has had "RUX" removed from it as well**, no doubt
due to fear of reprisals from the hired guns at WEA.

(The SubG Boot isn't actually available on DVD, is it? That's a pretty
"fringe" item, even for the Church!)

*(Which was directed by Stang, if memory serves. His role may have
been a lesser one, actually, though I know for certain that he did the
Barbie & Ken animation in "Love W/O Anger")

Stang was Assit. Dir. on RUX.

If its not for sale, it MIGHT be found on alt.binaries.slack. I have
been x-posting this theread over at alt.slack, so if your real good,
Stang might pint to to his "Media Ditch". This is an old drainage
ditch in Cleveland where large stashed of media just happen to appear!

After all teh snow they have had in that area, I'm sure there will be
som interesting items wash into that ditch.

BTW, the clasic Pre-Stang film, "Lets Visit the world of the Future"
is now on U-Tube. If you ever wondered where they got the idea for
"The Matrix" watch that little short.

No, it's on GOOGLE VIDEO. YouTube would never allow such a thing,
especially a 45 minute thing. WITH GIGANTIC TITIIES. No.

RU EXP. is NOT on alt.binaries.slack. I put all the heavy-duty shit on
alt.binaries.multimedia.slack. But I am not putting RU Experienced on
there YET AGAIN. I've already done that like10 times already.

Jeesh! Now Screwtube has deleted the new edit of the video altogether,
along with another clip I recently posted! I don't know if they
assumed that I reposted the same edit that they'd seen the first time,
or if it still didn't pass muster -- I had left in a couple of brief
"blips" from the RUX and LWA vids to cover some jump-edits, but none
were longer than 1-2 seconds long. (Meanwhile they've got a section on
the home page "recommending" Beatles stuff, Clash videos, and scenes
from Gilligan's Island that were undoubtedly NOT posted by the
copyright owners!!!)

Oh, well -- I'm glad that they at least "cherry-picked" through the
videos on my account rather than just shutting down my entire
operation without warning -- this time! (There's a reason that I go
under the name "1nceBitten2wiceShy over there!)

No, sir. It is because "RU Experienced" is directed by Gerald Casale
and not me. I DID have a LOT to do with every miniscule aspect of it,
which is a long and hilarious story.

But, with the home computer technology available to me at the time of
changing VHS to DVD, I couldn't make a good-looking DVD more than 90
min. in length. So that was one of the things cut.

Now we can make much longer DVDs on a Mac, and I will remake all our
old DVDs as soon as I have nothing better to do. 10, 20 years from
now.

I guess you would have to look at the catalog under CDRs. I may have
removed it simply because it got bought only once a year. But I can
easily make copies. It's just that it's grossly out-dated. It's all
mpeg1 copies whereas today it'd all be DivX. And it is. I posted it
all in DivX to alt.binaries.multimedia.slack years ago.

I did not direct any DEVO videos although at one point I was slated to
direct RU Experienced. Locations and schedules changed. Hellswami
Satellite Weavers and I put together a storyboard that was partially
used. I did in fact do the Barbie Vs. Ken stop-motion in "LOVE WITHOUT
ANGER," from a storyboard drawn by Mark M. But that was like 18
million years ago.

I am and have always been a major DEVO fanboy.
