religion/ethnicity of the spuds?

fellow potatoes,
after being a fan for 25+ years , I'm suddenly wondering what the
spuds ethnic/religious roots are.I'm not talking about that "church of
bob" stuff (which I can never figure out if it is a real religion or
shtick), but what were they were born as. the surname Casale is is,I
think spanish or maybe italian and probably catholic.Mothersbaugh and
Meyers? ya got me. any ideas?

I always thought that Alan Meyers was Jewish. But I don't know him very
well. (Who does?)
