I can't believe no one's mentioned this yet! It's been about a full
week since this got announced on the clubdevo website. What's up with
the silence spuds? Is it the holiday busy-ness thing?

Annnnyyyyyywaaaaayyyyy, Jerry's got 3 songs available for download from
his new Jihad Jerry & The Evildoers project. They appear to only be
available electronically via itunes, rhapsody, napster, and
realnetworks. I grabbed them via itunes, since I'm a Mac/iPod geek. My
understanding is that these 3 songs will all be included on the
forthcoming full length 12-song release, coming in 2 or so months. The
3 songs are Army Girls Gone Wild, Beehive, and The Owl. I think Beehive
is a old never released Devo song from the 4-track basement days, isn't
it? I'm not sure. The other 2 are definitely new. I think all 3 are
great. Army Girls Gone Wild has super obvious lyrics about Bush, Iraq,
Abu Ghraib, all that. I suppose some might be bugged by the lyrics a
bit when Jerry gets all left wing ranty, but I don't mind much...I
suppose in most areas I lean as far left as he does.

So, short version: Go get these songs! Only 0.99 each, at least on
itunes, and 2.49 for all 3 if you buy them all at once as the "Army
Girls Gone Wild EP". Super cheapy cheap, ya can't lose.

Check www.clubdevo.com as well for the blurb about these Jerry-doings.

I am really happy this is happening, Jerry is great. As far as the lyrics
go, he can`t be obvious enough. Someone has to say something and he`s
"Armed with an american passport" :-P
Yeah, 13 times.

It's a very low-traffic group these days.

I've heard the songs, and they're great. IIRC, Beehive was
an old Devo tune that got on a couple bootlegs. Reminds me
a little of The Blues Brothers doing "King Bee" dressed up
in bee suits on SNL oh so many years ago.

It's great to see GVC putting his stuff out there--I might
actually buy an album that was made this century! ;-)

Hey, Ms. Pussycat--
Boards of Canada, Lali Puna, Lemon Jelly, Barbara Morgenstern.

Just got it! It's now $1.99 at iTunes, and it rocks. Not particularly
synthy, but nice bluesy rock & roll with backup singers that sound a
lot like Thunderthighs (if you remember them). Happymaking stuff.

Army Girls might be the weakest of the 3 songs, but I have to give it
all another listen. I got mine off the Musicmatch store, can't wait to
transfer them over to my Zen Xtra

Yeah, I suppose I'd agree with that. I dig the lyrics, but musically
it's the most "normal". I guess. Not that normal is soooo bad, but I
just think the other 2 are better, not that Army Girl sucks or anything.
Beehive is the my fave of the 3 tracks. Reeeeeally looking forward to
the full length release. I definitely heard this Jerry-version of
Beehive playing over the PA before Devo came on at 3 semi-recent shows.
(2 in W.Hollywood, 1 in Oakland, CA) This leads me to guess that
another track I heard over the PA will be part of the Jihad Jerry
release as well, which was an updated Jerry-version of I Been Refused.
I think I heard a new version of I Need A Chick as well? Not sure,
can't remember now.

I heard his new version of "Find Out" over the PA in NYC.
I told him his new album sounded good when I saw him later that night.

I'd have to agree that Beehive is the class of the ep. that one gets 5
stars in iTunes, the others get a solid 4. Can anyone shed light as to
who the band is for this?

I heard that Bob 1 and Josh play on it.
