Yup. But it sounds like "easy paycheck" music.

"easy paycheck" music
I have heard of this concept. How can *I* do it?

Find an entry-level job working for a film composer. . . and slowly
work your way up.

You go back in time 20+ years ago, create some quirky music with a
bizarre backstory, impress the hell out of a bunch of impressionable
teenage geeks and nerds, wait about 20 years for some of them to become
powerful hollywood types, then wait for them to call you when they need
some music.

I'm pretty sure this is what has happened for Mark, witness his work
with Wes Anderson, et al. (I think it's the liner notes of the Bottle
Rocket or maybe the Rushmore soundtrack where they discuss how Mark got
involved)

I know if I was in charge of having to have some music made, Mutato
would be my first phone call.

The wait was only 10 years or so . . . Mark's first composing gig,
according to IMDB, was 20 years ago when he did Pee Wee's Playhouse.

Yes, the wait was only 10 years, but those were the hungry years. I
can't imagine the pee wee job paid anything like today's soundtrack /
swiffer / Target work.

Very true. Then again, like musicians, composers have to prove
themselves capable of handling big-time gigs.
