I was in a Target store Monday (the same chain that sold Devo costumes
last Halloween). They had the Devo 2.0 CD in a new release display. I
thought it wasn't supposed to be out until March.

I almost bought it... almost. But the Disney vibe it gives off just
gives me chills. Besides, do I really want to listen to sqeaky-clean
pre-teens doing Kidz-Bop versions of Devo songs? I could be listening
to the originals.

I can't believe Jerry is behind this... good ol', leftist,
anti-establishment Gerald V. has sold his soul (and Devo's best
material) to the Evil Empire. What's next? Neil Young recording a duet
with Barbra Striesand? Lemmy on American Idol? WAAAAUUUGGHH!!!!

Does anyone know how Mark feels about this crap? Can I still respect
him?

I haven't seen this yet, because I'm waiting for it to magically appear
in the usual places. However, reviews suggest one feature of the DVD is
cool as anything: the ability to watch only the background animation
with no regrettably unaborted children bopping around, with regrettably
unaborted children vocals removed, leaving only the DEVO-performed
instrumental tracks.

Yup. I ordered it, and one of the great extras on the DVD is the
background animations with instrumental music, sans the sanitized
vocals. Instant DEVO karaoke!

Heck, the animations aren't bad, either.

I'm in the process of ripping the videos off the DVD and then putting
the instrumental music into MP3 files - should make a great "background
music CD" while I'm working.

Listen to Rev. Beastly's interview with him. It explains why he did
it. I wasn't too hot about buying it as well, but I think I'm going
to give it a go.

I think it's something I'll try to get my 4 year old hooked on.

I think Target had exclusive release for a month before the wide
release.
