State of the Nation

A recent post on alt.slack brought a strange realization to me ab out
the current parallels between the current State of 'Merica and the
State of the old Soviet Union before it collapsed.

Submitted for your consideration:

1) "Political Loyalty" and "Ideological Purity" is trumping competence
in the selection & promotion of people within the Bureaucracy.

2) many of the people in statement one are simply "Political
Commissars" whose sole mission is to insure that every Government
Employee stays on the official Part Script on all issues.

3) We invaded Afghanistan and installed a Government that controlled
nothing outside of its own capital city. While fighting native tribes
in the hills.

4) We Invaded Iraq for trumped up "Ideological" reasons based upon a
Party Think-Tanks Dogma on the Middle East. Despite the warnings from
everyone with half a brain that it was a big mistake.

5) We must now depend on imports for food.

6) Government is forcing the Press to tell the Official Story. Anyone
who reports other wise is labeled a traitor.

7) Police Powers have been greatly expanded (although this has been an
ongoing trend since the Rehnquist Court). Police no longer need a
warrant or "Probable Cause" to search you person, car and home. The
President claims the right to listen in on your phone conversations,
internet usage, etc as well as restrict the Right of Habius Corpus.

8) The Saucers did land last July 5th.

9) The Standard of living for the Average Working stiff can only be
maintained via massive debt.

10) The Government can't even run food inspections or send some boats
to resue people stranded by floods anymore. One day I expect to go to
the local Food Market and find them out of everything except Brussel
Sprouts and Liver. Luckily I like Brissel Sprouts!

BUT LET ME ASK YOU THIS!! ...no matter what this land is called, the
people will be the same, and the people -- so invested in our own self-
satisfied contentment would never allow the Police State Terrorism???
i mean, in the stereotypical dystopian fashion we've read about in
comics and seen in the movies. i honestly think if it ever got that
bad we would take our 500 million guns and turn them against whomever.
maybe i'm just a hopeless optimist. but i have faith in our relentless
pursuit of slack, distorted as it is in some people.

do it "for the children!"

Just remember, there were most of teh population of Iraq was armed in
the Saddam Days. But every tribe, religious sect, and third cousin had
a differnt agenda. So no one could rise up & challange Saddam.

And the reason Iraq (and most Mid East nations) have leaders like
Saddam is becuase only a despot can keep the vaious factions from
killing each other.

I predict that the by the time we DO leave Iraq, it will be ruled by a
"Saddam Lite: (All the Police State, half the killing) installed by
us. That is if Iraq does not break up into its pre-1920's tribal
regions.

That BS about "guns keeping the King of England out of America" was
pure rot.

We won our independence bacuase France and several "refugees" from the
Continant like Von Stuben and Count Piulaski.

France armed and Trained the Contonental Army and Von Stuebem trained
it. And Laffyette Helped Washington run it.

conformity and gullibility from your fellow countrymen how can one
possibly believe they won't willfully walk into the witches' caldron.

it just needs to start with a simple mantra. "Disagreeing with
Republicans doesn't make me a terrorist." say this ten minutes
everyday when you wake up. i think getting people to do this should be
our top priority..

it just needs to start with a simple mantra. "Disagreeing with
Republicans doesn't make me a terrorist." say this ten minutes
everyday when you wake up. i think getting people to do this should be
our top priority..

You have to remember your history. It happened many times, France
(twice), Germany, Italy. All is takes is making the "Pinks" scared
enough that they "beg" for it.

NOthing lasts forever, especially when the general population seems
put more effort into voting on "American Idol" then in the elections.

I'm not saying that the US doomed. I'm just pointing out the
interesting Parallels.

I think the 'merkins have finally realised the Bushies are dumber the
a retarded Pomeranian. Too bad it took until after 2006 for them to
see it.

I DO think that Iraq will become the United State "Stalingrad.' The
Germany Army got itself pushed into a hopless battle for a city that
could have easily been bypass (infact, the Blitzkreig Doctrine
specificly stated to bypass fortified positions) becuase of a
political Agenda. (the story goes Hitler was obsessed with Stalingrad
becuase it has Stalin's name in it)

The loss of the German 6th Army wasthe begining of the end. They never
could recover the loss of manpower (much less the equipment).

It also gave the Red Army the confidence it needed to Win the War in
Europe. Don't listen to the "Merica won WWII" bulls shit. Germany was
defeated by he Russian Army at the cost of an 'Officail" toll of 20
Million. The actual death toll was more like 80 Million when you cound
the civilians who starved to death as well as the ones Stalin through
into the Camps in the war.

The US in Europe never fought a German unit that was at full strength
in personnel or equipment. Most of the troops defending France were
actually Russian POW's who defected. France was also where the Germans
sent wounded troops to recover. Even in teh Ardennes (Battle of the
Bulge) only the onw Waffen SS Division as at full strength (Waffen SS
was NOT part of the German Army) all teh Army units were made of the
best troops the Germans could "Scrape" off the bottom of the Barrel.
