HERE'S THE INFO:

DEVO wrote a new song called "Watch Us Work It" and recorded at Mutato
Muzika in Los Angeles, CA, and produced by Sweden's famous Teddy Bears.

DELL heard it because Paul Malmstrom and Linus Carlsson at the Mother
agency in NYC played it for them as a possibility for a song for their TV
campaign featuring a newly developed, high-end laptop computer. DELL liked
it, and now you can hear this brand new DEVO song when you watch the
commercial currently running on nationwide TV.

The song, as well as a full length music-video are forthcoming and will be
available for download through iTunes, etc.

We'll keep you posted, Spuds.

So do I, but I'm not holding my breath.

I don't think this song will lead to a new album. It would
be nice for Devo to put out a new live album, though. :)

Even better would be a DVD of the recent live performances.

As far as I'm aware most if not all of the recent UK shows were video
recorded with audio coming straight from the desk.

That I would definitely buy.

I have no idea if they intend to release it. Maybe Michael Pilmer
would know more.

But then they do seem to like to document their stuff which is good.

Ya, I got an audience boot of a show in London that was pretty good.
They're still a little looser than they used to be, but they're
getting better. But if they release it on CD, I hope it's not as big
a ripoff as that Central Park two-CD set with only 30 minutes of music
on each disc.

Kind of digging the new song, but I would like to hear them do some
more jarring music like the first two albums as opposed to the
danceable stuff. I thought "It's All Good" was a step in the right
direction, but this one's more like the later stuff.

Yeah, that was a bit odd. I have the downloadable, preview
version, thanks to a friend of mine who was at that show. :)

The "Devo dance music" is pretty cool, IMHO. It feels
strange to say that, 'cause I normally don't like dance
music. That said, I also *love* the Hardcore era, with the
gritty, scrumptious bass lines & the metal panel Minimoog
sounds*.

*Mark's first Minimoog was one of the first 500 made, and
I've confirmed that it indeed had a metal panel.

Kinda sounds like NuTra era to me, so I gots no problem with that. I
would like to hear something a little more spazztastic myself, but I
cannot complain: this sounds like a single, imo. Really digging the
mix too -- those guitars sound very full & open.

Maybe this will prime the pump a little bit and they'll be able to get
some backing for a bigger project.

Dream Devo project: A full movie with an all-new soundtrack.

You bet they do. One of my rules of thumb with DEVO is, "the more
guitars, the better". I was lucky enough to see the ad with no prior
knowledge, & I've been humming "Watch Us Work It" ever since.

Howyez all doooon? (Lookin' at YOU, Spango.;> And the resta yez,

I'm doin' great, Stiiv! Good to hear from ya. Thanks for sending me
the addy update -- good to know you're still out there.

Hey my bro lives in the city now, so I figure to be in your neck o'
th' woods from time to time. Maybe, after all these years, we can

Drinking! Smoking! Watch us work it!

That would be great, Spangini....I don't think Dr. Zontar has yet
recovered from the drunken night we hung out here in the big city, & I
predict a similar experience for you.

I recovered, but only after months of costly operations and therapy.
But I still can't remember why I now have a tattoo of Toni Basil on my
ass...

Uh, that's not a tattoo, Doc....it's an imprint from the actual Toni
(a la Jesus/St. Veronica's dishtowel). ;>

It uses the drums from "The Super Thing" at the beginning.

The possibility of a new album is mentioned in this Devo Vs. Korn article at
