The main riff of Devo's old tune "Fraulein" on Hardcore Vol. 2 is a
direct quote of the riff in "Powerhouse" by Raymond Scott, which you
might remember being used in lots of old cartoons. Who's Raymond Scott?
Electronic music pioneer, jazz man, cartoon music composer, amongst
other things. His story really deserves investigation for the
uninitiated. I went from having never heard of him to being a full
blown fan-boy in a single day when I learned about him. Check out
http://www.raymondscott.com/ for lots of info, you might be left amazed.
Devo-related note: Mark M is on the board that overseas the Raymond
Scott archive.

(Just informed myself) Oh right, you mean that cartoon music which appeared
on Bugs Bunny, Ren & Stimpy, "Fraulein" and so on.
Actually I`m glad that you mentioned the songwriter, Raymond Scott,
otherwise I wouldn`t have known who wrote all that great tunes that I`ve
loved and feared since I was a child. Great stuff. Thanks.

Yep. That's him. "Powerhouse" is the music you always hear when a
Looney Tunes character is in a factory.

He did a lot of early electronic music too, building instruments and
primitive sequencers out of vaccuum tubes and relays. Very cool stuff.

...and remember, Scott was the first employer of ROBERT MOOG, the
recently dead synth god. Moog built a lot of Scott's synths in the 1950s.

Also, Scott could burn a hole through solid steel merely by gazing at
it, and he could pick up and throw cars.

Well actually Frank I think you can also probably burn holes in steel with a
gaze after studying your visuals. Really great stuff. Editing sharper than a
knife.
Do you also do vids for other bands/projects or just those you`re involved
with and what you do commercially ?
