Took my Great nephew Camping again this weekend.
One the plus side, due to construction at the State Park, the boat
rental is closed for the season. So I don't have to worry about
renting a paddle boat and paddling him (and my own fat butt) around
the lake.
The bad side: He brought his bicycle, so I HAD to take mine. I was
letting him ride in front of me so I could keep an eye on him. He had
this habit of turn 90 degrees in front of me and stopping suddenly.
Several times I almost plastered him. On the bicycle trail, he did OK
on half of it (the down hill halves) the up hill halves I had to
peddle to the top of the hill and wait for him to push hi bike up the
hill. I figured this would wear him out. WRONG! As soon as we got
back, I had to take him to the playground, the we had to play catch,
then I had to play "Connect Four" then "War" then "Scrabble Jr.", then
Connect Four, then ride the bikes back down to the playground. Then
lunch, then more playground, more catch, more bicycles, the more games
in the camper, than the Hay Ride, then to the Camp Store for Ice
Cream, then dinner, then showers and cooking marshmallows over a fire.
then some more games, the (FINNALY) sleep! The morning came all too
soon! And after breakfast we went and did about half the stuff again
before check out time!
Then after dropping him off at his house, I got home and was soooooo
proud of myself for getting the camper parked the the EXACT place to
allow me to park the truck and my car in the driveway together in one
try!
All that was shot down when I got into the house and the door to the
refrigerator was open. My fridge, if you push the door closed too hard
it will not close completely and will slowly swing open. So it was
open over 24 hours in 85+ degree (F) weather!
The FREE Gallon of milk I got with a coupon Saturday Was now cottage
cheese as well as the OJ, cheese, ect.
It it slowly cooling down again, after I went and bought an whole
nother set of fresh groceries!
Hope the fridge will hold out. If the Motor is OK, it probally took a
few years off the life of the fridge.
When I picked up the nephew at his house, I was driving to the State
PArk with the truc towing the camper. Jason was playing his Game Boy.
I started to hear this real strange noise. It sounded just like the
noise the trucks transmissionmade last year when it chewed itself up
at Corning last year on the way to Sherman! I was panicling! Then I
realized t was Jason's Game! Wheeew!
NO red necks this time, just a bunch of families with kids Jason's
age. But Jason has this problem, he rather play with the Girls then
most of the Boys. I figure he will have knocked up his girl friend
when he 16 or 17.
There was also two Boy Scout Trrops from Annapolis there. This morning
the Scout Masters had them over at the Playground to let them burn off
some energy before the drive home. They invented a new game. Get on
the swings, get going as high as you can, this kick off a sneaker.
Prizes for distance and hieght. One kid had the perfect form!
he could kick his shoe about 35 feet or so high, and get about 25 to
30 feet distance. He was the rieghing champ until Jaosn and on of teh
other kids developed their "Line Drive" shot! AFter that, Jason and
the other were getting Distance everytime.
I have not been this stiff and sore since the first day of basic
Training. I managed to keep up with a 9 year old for over 24 hours! At
my age I figure thats no small feat!
