Boy, for a guy who thought stringed instruments were obsolete, Mark
sure uses a fair amount of guitar on his soundtrack work. Maybe Bob 2
talked some sense into him. Or maybe Mark got better on guitar and
decided it wasn't such a bad instrument after all. At any rate, I'm
glad to see him come to his senses. Maybe if he'd thought that way
during Devo's album-releasing years I would have liked their later
stuff better.

I'm really digging this soundtrack. This is Mark's best work yet.
I'd like to see him venture off into some complex chordal stuff more
often (he mostly sticks with major and minor) but he's at least added
it to his repertoire like on "We Call Them Pirates Out Here." And
even the cheesy Casiotone songs are pretty cool in their own way.
Nice going, Spud!

I finally saw this last night and liked it much better than the reviews
led me to believ that I would. I did make note of Mark's cues and they
are definitely one of the better aspects of the flick. Where did you
get the actual score soundtrack?

Cheers!

Alex gets everything because he is Keeper Of The Devoboots and people
respect him.

Thanks, man, I really appreciate it. It's comments like that that really
make this whole thing worthwhile.

Todd, in response to your question, the score was ripped from the Oscar
promo disc. Movie studios send out promotional CD-Rs of movie scores to
be considered for academy awards and a few of Mark's scores have leaked
out this way. Thankfully, Life Aquatic was among them. In my opinion,
it's his absolute best score work. You can check out the rest of the
Mark scores we have at the website.
